Management
Dr. Ishiung J. Wu,
became interim president and chief
executive officer of Trend on February 1, 2007. Dr.
Wu has been our Chairman of the Board since May 2004
and a director since August 2000. Other companies
with which Dr. Wu holds an officer and/or director
position include GreatWall Gold Corporation, Strategic
Nevada Resources Corp. and IW Exploration Company.
Dr. Wu was a Director of High Plains Uranium until the
company merged into Energy Metals Inc. in January
2007. From June 1994 to January 2002, Dr. Wu was an
officer and director of General Minerals Corporation.,
a US-based, Canadian natural resources public company.
From January 2000 to January 2002, he was also
Chairman of Xinjiang Towerbeck Mineral JV Inc., a
Chinese-Canadian joint venture. From 1974 to 1992,
Dr. Wu worked for Kennecott (now a subsidiary of Rio
Tinto PLC) and the North and South American mineral
subsidiaries of Exxon (now Exxon-Mobil) and Chevron in
various capacities, including Exploration Manager in
Chile for Chevron. Dr. Wu holds a M.A. (1971) and
Ph.D. (1975) in economic geology from Harvard
University, where he was a Teaching Fellow in Geology
from 1971 to 1973. He is also a Fellow of the Society
of Economic Geologists.
John P. Ryan, Vice President, has
served as our chief financial officer (“CFO”), secretary, treasurer and as
a director since August 2000. Mr. Ryan is a degreed mining engineer. In
addition to his duties with the Company, Mr. Ryan is currently Chairman
and CFO of US Silver Corporation and also is Chief Legal Officer of
Platinum Diversified Mining, Inc. Since February 2004, he has served as a
director of White Mountain Titanium Corporation, a mining exploration
company. Mr. Ryan served as the Executive Vice President and CFO of
Cadence Resources Corporation, an oil and gas exploration and production
company, from September 2000 to October 2005. Other companies with which
Mr. Ryan holds an officer and/or director position include Bio-Quant,
Inc., Nevada-Comstock Mining Company, GreatWall Gold Corporation, Sundance
Diamonds Corporation, Consolidated Goldfields Corporation, and Dotson
Exploration Company. Many of these companies have only minimal activity
and require only a small amount of Mr. Ryan’s time. Mr. Ryan is a former
U.S. Naval Officer and obtained a B.S. in Mining Engineering from the
University of Idaho and a Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School.
Director
Jeffrey M. Christian,
Director, is Managing Director of
CPM Group, a leading independent metals research and consulting firm. He
is a recognized figure in the precious metals industry and has been
involved in much of the pioneering work applying economic analysis and
econometric studies to gold , silver and the PGM markets. The industry
and investment community closely watches CPM Group’s commentary and
reports, including their annual surveys of these metals. The CPM Group
counts among its clients many of the world’s largest mining companies,
industrial users of precious metals, central banks, government agencies
and financial institutions worldwide. Prior to founding CPM Group in
1986, Mr. Christian headed the precious metals and statistical work in the
Commodities Research Group at J. Aron and Goldman Sachs from 1980 until
1986. In 1984, he became director of the department; in 1985 he served as
its group Vice President. Mr. Christian is President and a Director of
the International Precious Metals Institute and was elected to the
Company’s board in August 2000.
